Faith & Roman’s Lake Tahoe Elopement

A couple in wedding attire stands on a rocky outcrop overlooking a forested hillside and a large lake with mountains in the background.

Faith and Roman’s sunrise mountaintop ceremony was exactly why I love being a Lake Tahoe elopement photographer—intentional, emotional, and just a little wild in the best way.

Some couples want the big party. The venue. The crowd.
Faith and Roman? They wanted a mountain. Their people. A view. And a jump into the lake.

This dreamy little Tahoe elopement started with the softest morning light, just before the sun fully peeked over the horizon. Faith and Roman had two rental cars to keep things separate before the first look (shoutout to thoughtful logistics), and when they finally saw each other at the top of the mountain? Cue the tears.

Before the ceremony, they stepped aside for private vows—just the two of them. No audience, no camera in their faces. I hung back, zoom lens in hand, giving them space to soak it all in. Faith later said it “felt like Hozier’s yell,” and honestly… that’s the kind of emotion you can’t stage.

A Few More Favorite Details:

  • Faith surprised Roman with a boudoir album the morning of the wedding (which she had done back home in Louisiana!)—such a personal and intimate gift.

  • Their close friend Wesley led the ceremony, complete with a short prayer, heartfelt words, traditional vows, and one of Roman’s groomsmen presenting the rings.
  • The entire group: Faith, Roman, two of their besties, and their officiant, kept it tight-knit and joyful.

After a few group photos and some glowy couple portraits, they popped champagne, cut into a Nothing Bundt Cake, and then—because they are complete legends—jumped straight into the lake in their wedding clothes.

Because let’s be honest: if your friends don’t get in the lake with you after your elopement, are they even your friends?
