Oh how much I loved this Lakewood wedding this past fall…
I met Vanessa and Steve last year to talk about their engagement photos, I of course went to the meeting hoping that I would get to shoot wedding in October…well lucky me! Dear Diamond Weddings got to be apart of their amazing wedding day at the The Centre at Sycamore Plaza located in Lakewood. I loved this venue, especially because of the urban elements it offered as well as a huge ballroom and great service from TGI’s catering. One of my favorite weddings of the year, especially because I got to work with my partner Kristy because we go together like peas and carrots hahaha..Not forgetting to mention, I love the couple – they are just so easy to be around and trusted my vision when it came to their photos on their wedding day.
So I am slightly OBSESSED with this mirror, as soon as I saw this hanging I knew I would center Vanessa’s details and bridal portraits around this lovely piece. It’s all in the details kids- that is what I am looking for as soon as the wedding day starts. I like to use the environment around me to shape the story of your day.
The fall colors were definitely a nice pallet to work with the gold, rosey and dusty pinks. The flowers by Katy turned out amazing and definitely are on trend with the arch way and greenery..
OK OK..I know – this is a lot of shoe pictures, seriously could have added like 5 more to this post…I just love her shoes! I wish I could walk in them haha, sadly boots are pretty much the only heel that my footsies can take. Vanessa has the skills to make these shoes look even better on!
One last look before she meets her groom..
There were many but i’d have to say, having our first look photographs taken. It may have been for a few minutes but having that moment to ourselves and seeing each other before the eventful evening ahead of us, it was special and I’m glad we were able to share it as a family.
I have probably said this before but I love the speech portion of the evening, it really tells me a lot about the couple – usually there is laughing and crying which is always nice to feel that emotion in the room.
Overall, it was a reflection of my favorite season and color. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year and the color burgundy is just so beautiful to me, it was only perfect to incorporate the two as the theme for our wedding. I added gold accents to give that sparkle, which i think tied everything together.
Here is a great example of the sign in book you have the option to upgrade to in our wedding collections…
The stress if a wedding day can be tough…luckily these two know how to have a blast and throw a great party! Such a great reward when it is all said and done. Check out their dance moves! The little guy pictured below REALLY wanted to hear Megan Trainer’s “Me too” haha – it was so cute how upset he was.
I would suggest exercise or a massage to ease the tension we know comes with planning such an important event. And if you’re going to splurge on anything, let it be the food!
Overall, this was just a great experience and I feel so lucky to be apart of their lives by capturing these special moments on their wedding day. I am even more excited to deliver their albums and canvases once they are all picked out!
Lastly, I try to send our couples a preview within the first week if not within the first 48 hours if I can..Vanessa and Steve had this to say..
Also, gurrrl you and Kristy are so amazing, you both went above and beyond what you went there to do. Thank you, we truly appreciated your work ethic. You literally kept us to the timeline because I sure was getting lost in the whirlwind of guests and talking etc…you two are sharp.
Thanks again guys! Much love and happiness sent to you and your family <3
