Tannenbaum Wedding Photographer | Katie & Jose’s Celebration

An outdoor wedding ceremony with the couple at the altar, surrounded by bridesmaids in light dresses and groomsmen in grey suits, with guests seated and trees in the background.

Katie & Jose’s June celebration was one of those days that felt like pure magic—emotional, intentional, and full of joy. As their Tannenbaum wedding photographer, I had the best time capturing everything from the soft summer florals to the way they toasted with tacos under string lights.

Tannenbaum is one of those Reno wedding venues that gives you all the Tahoe vibes—tall pines, dreamy light, and an indoor space that feels warm and inviting. Whether you’re planning a winter wedding with fireside vibes or a breezy summer day like this one, it adapts beautifully to your vision.

A Romantic Tannenbaum Summer Wedding

These two skipped the first look, and thanks to long summer days, we still had plenty of time to frontload portraits with their wedding party before the ceremony. (Honestly, summer weddings like this give so much breathing room—for moments and light.)

Katie wore a fairytale gown straight out of a boho bridal dream. Her hair—braided and adorned with baby’s breath—was pure magic. And let’s talk about Jose’s suit: bold blue with superhero pins hidden in the jacket lining?! I cannot. Everything about their look felt true to who they are—classic, fun, a little playful, and full of heart.

Set under the trees with the valley in the distance, their ceremony was tender, heartfelt, and uniquely theirs. Instead of a sand or candle unity ritual, they planted a houseplant together in shared soil—symbolizing the roots they’ve already grown. (This was SUCH a perfect reflection of their relationship and home life.)

Jose teared up. Guests teared up. I was maybe holding back a tear behind my camera too.

Reception Highlights: Tacos, Churros & So Much Heart

One of the best things about being a Tannenbaum wedding photographer is seeing how couples make the reception space totally their own—from tacos to twinkle lights. After private time together and a few golden hour portraits, the party kicked off with an Arctic Monkeys first dance, taco bar, and the kind of energy that keeps the dance floor full all night long. Lauren from Juniper Social Events knocked it out of the park (no surprise there—she’s not only a killer planner but also one of my besties, and I had the joy of photographing her Tahoe Blue Estate wedding too).

The reception design was elegant and relaxed—wood tables, greenery runners, soft candlelight, and those signature Tannenbaum ceiling lights that always add that extra glow.

And can we talk about the dessert moment? They ended the night with cupcakes, a cake cutting under the bistro lights, and a late-night flatlay of strawberry shortcake, churros, and a ring shot that somehow made me hungry and emotional all at once.

Why We Love Photographing Weddings at Tannenbaum

There’s a reason I love being a Tannenbaum wedding photographer—from the ceremony light to the cozy reception layout, it always delivers something beautiful and personal.. Located just outside Reno on the Mt. Rose Highway, it offers panoramic views, a cozy mountain vibe, and spaces that flow easily from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception.

As a photographer, I love how the light pours in through the pines during golden hour and how the indoor reception space glows at night. You get those dreamy outdoor portraits and the convenience of a fully outfitted venue. And with planners like Lauren in the mix, couples can actually relax and be present—whether they do a first look or not.
