I hope you are ready for one of my favorite proposal photo sessions here in Lake Tahoe! November through February is known as proposal and engagement season, especially here in Lake Tahoe! Honestly, Tahoe is one of the most majestic and romantic places to take photos, get married and even get down on one knee and pop the question, especially during the winter. The snow covered trees, clear blue skies and water are just a sight to be seen. I absolutely love this Lake Tahoe proposal for Taylor and Gillian, it was a dream!
Engagement photos are one thing, but a proposal is a whole other mountain to tackle. Taylor found me through another local photographer, I’ve learned they are a pretty tight knit group here, of course I was so excited to be a part of a moment like this! Especially because another proposal scheduled was cancelled due to a very snowy Christmas weekend.
Just like any proposal, it took a little planning . First, we thought we might surprise Gillian when they arrived on top on the mountain at Heavenly. It would be an amazing view and hopefully we could get first chair with very little traffic. My main contact was Taylor’s mom at first…she informed me the bride to be was learning to snowboard the day before. I quickly suggested that may not be the best idea.
I mean, I’ve been there, skiing and snowboarding pretty much wreck your body the first few times you get out there. Also, she may not truly enjoy photos in the snowboarding clothes.
Luckily, the amazing video team at Chair 7 Films completely agreed and we were able to transfer to this amazing location near Valhalla. It was absolute perfection! I couldn’t have asked for a better team and couple to work with. They even managed to mic up Taylor beforehand in the bathroom so they could catch all the little moments and cleared the pier for them too!
Gillian was floored when she saw what Taylor had planned. A paparazzi team just for her as all the onlookers were cheering for them once she said yes! “This was truly the most magical (and cold) proposal I could have ever imagined!” Gill posted to her Instagram.
